Raquel Velasco is a multimedia journalist with a passion for writing and working behind the scene. She shoots, edits, reports and enterprises her own stories for several papers throughout Arizona.

From breaking news stories to community features, Raquel produces hyperlocal content on a deadline. Her work as a reporter/photographer has been featured on the front page of azcentral.com, receiving over 1,000 views. She's also been published in The East Valley Tribune, and produced video content for eastvalleytribune.com.

Raquel also produced video content for Get Out Weekend, a weekly webcast show on eastvalleytribune.com.

Originally from Los Angeles, California, is currently a senior at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. She is majoring in journalism with an emphasis in multimedia journalism. She is also earning a minor in sociology.

 

When she doesn't have a notepad in her hand, she has her Android in her pocket, eager to take on the new roles as a journalist.
